RSV Vaccination

There is currently a new RSV vaccine named Arexvy. It is for adults age 60 and over and is currently only covered by OHIP for adults in long term care homes. For others, it may be covered by third party insurance companies. If you are interested in receiving the vaccine, a prescription is required from Dr. Issa and it cannot currently be given by pharmacies, so you will need to book with a nurse in office to receive it.

Pneumonia Vaccination

There are currently two pneumonia vaccines recommended for individuals over 65 - Prevnar 20, which is not covered by OHIP, and Pneuomvax 23, which is covered for individuals 65 and older. For more information, please discuss with Dr. Issa.

Shingles Vaccination

Are you interested in vaccination to prevent shingles, a painful reactivation of the chicken pox virus? We become more susceptible to this debilitating condition as we age. The Shingrix vaccine is approved for individuals 50 and over and is currently covered by OHIP for ages 65-70. It is a two vaccine series. For more information, please discuss with Dr. Issa.
